Brittany Ferries
Brittany ferries offer an excellent choice of routes to France departing from Portsmouth, Poole and Plymouth to St Malo, Caen, Cherbourg and Roscoff. There are a choice of day or overnight crossings on a traditional ferry or high speed services from Portsmouth and Poole which can take as little as 135 minutes. If you are travelling to south western France, you may wish to consider the Plymouth Santander route which takes 20h 30mins and sails twice a week. Driving from Santander to Messanges is 292k and takes approximately 3h16m.

Car Hire
If you are travelling to a ski resort, you can hire racks to carry your skis and you may wish to request winter tyres. Please note, when driving in the mountains in snowy conditions, it is compulsory to carry snow chains. These can be obtained from your car hire company for an extra charge.

P & O Ferries
P&O ferries operate a choice of 4 routes across the channel. Between Dover and Calais there are up to 30 return sailings per day with a crossing time of 75 – 90 minutes. If you are travelling to south western France, and wish to minimise driving on the continent and make the sea voyage part of your holiday, you may wish to consider the Portsmouth Bilbao route with a crossing time of 35 hours on the outward journey and 29 hours on the return. For people travelling from the north of England or Scotland, P&O ferries overnight Hull-Rotterdam/Zeebrugge crossings avoid the need to drive down to Dover.
Puy du Fou
The Puy-du-Fou, Vendee, both the spectacular night-time "Cinéscénie", a giant son-et-lumiere performed on Fri. Sat, Sun from late May to early Sept; and the day-time "Grand Parc", which is a fantastic historical theme park. But instead of white-knuckle rides you find historical settings and fantastic set-piece shows on everything from Roman chariot-racing and the legend of 7th-century Saint Philibert, to falconry, a medieval township and 18th-century village.

Travelling with a disability
We will try and help you with your accommodation and travel when you have a disability. Please give us any details that may help in your choice. We will also inform Receptions for you prior to your arrival if you wish to make special request. There are some holiday villages who have some accommodation which has been built to highly recommended specifications for wheelchair users and other motor disabilities and other handicaps. I will personally arrange a further visit to a property if you have specific questions for its compatibality for a disabled member travelling in your group. Travelling with a Pet -Rules change on 1 January 2012
If you wish to bring your pet we would suggest you use this link to the MAFF for the latest guidelines for the pets passport and all the details about the vaccination and chip details. Please check their web site for the latest information on which french ferry ports have the equipment to read the chips. And don't forget their passports and all the paperwork either or they won't let you and your pet into France or back to England!!
