Hugues and I founded Wake Up in France in 1995. Together we have over 50 years experience in the travel industry. We started renting mobile homes and later added villas and holiday villages on the Vendee coast. In 2002, we decided to expand and started adding properties further along the west coast – we went north to Brittany and south to the Basque country. Today our programme covers all of France. We personally vet our luxury villas, check the pools and visit the children’s clubs, at the holiday villages we feature.
We pride ourselves in offering good quality accommodation, excellent value for money, and a personal service. We have an excellent product knowledge that comes from living and working in our major holiday region.
Wake up in France rarely advertises – for most of our clients are returning holidaymakers or their friends who they have recommended to us.
Our portfolio now comprises 350 villas and apartments of all shapes and sizes. There are individual villas with private pools, villas in holiday villages with a shared pool, as well as smaller apartments – several set beside France’s finest golf courses. So the Wake up in France programme has something for everyone – we have properties that sleep 2 -12 people in comfort.
I live in the Vendee, on the French west coast and travel all over France stringently selecting properties for our programme.
In the French office we are ably assisted by Jacqueline and Isabelle. They can answer your calls and e-mails in perfect English – though I am always on hand to help.
With more and more of our bookings coming from the UK we have decided to open a UK office – headed by Gill Cockin. Gill and I worked together for many years at Keycamp before she went to Holidaybreak while I headed to France to start Wake up in France. Gill shares my love of France and as well as making regular visits all over France in a professional capacity, has enjoyed holidaying here for some 25 years.
